Memory of Russia: Monument to Soviet scouts to appear in Kaliningrad

A monument to Soviet scouts – participants of the East Prussian Offensive during 1944-1945 – is due to appear in Kaliningrad in early May 2012. A monument featuring figures of scouts – a rifleman and a radio operator will be opened within “Victory Park” complex, which adjoins the Memorial to 1200 heroes-guardsmen, who were killed during the storm of Königsberg city-fortress in early April 1945.

The memorial is said to immortalize 2600 Soviet scouts, who were killed during the East Prussian Offensive of Soviet army, those who were getting invaluable information for the Victory in incredibly hard conditions at the rear of the enemy”.
