IT and Security: IT security market trends’ 2012 released
Canalys has released a forecast on IT security market trends of the upcoming year, where it states that key anti-virus companies have all the chances to increase their incomes in view of the further growth of hacker strategies and malware in 2012.
According to the forecast, total investment is expected to grow 8.7% year-on-year in 2012 to reach a market value of $22.9 billion worldwide. The anti-virus segment will remain one of the strongest parts of the security industry next year, and is expected to increase by 6.9% year-on-year.
The report reads that smaller vendors are working to displace major security vendors such as Symantec, McAfee and Trend Micro. Kaspersky Lab, Panda Security and AVG are increasingly gaining market share, posing a serious threat to above-mentioned top-tier vendors. The report released by the analytical company mentions that today anti-virus companies have already completed implementing their solutions at large and mid-size companies and the year 2012 will run under the aegis of promoting anti-virus solutions for small business and users.
