Museums of Russia: New building of Military and Historical Museum opens in Pskov Region

On December 6th 2011 a new two-storey building of the Military and Historical Museum of Pskov Region is opening in the town of Ostrov (Pskov Region).

To mark this event the museum staff has prepared a temporary exposition on the history of the region to be staged in a new exhibition hall. Its visitors will have a chance to discover various Stone Age tools, adornments of 12th-13th cc., peasant household items, including those of prosperous homes —furniture, tableware, and a collection of samovars (about 50 examples); articles related to the merchants, and various documents (17th — early 20th cc.). What is more, on show are going archaeological artifacts from Ostrov fortress — balls, axes, spears, arrowheads and other exhibits.
