Memory of Russia abroad: “Memory of the War Time” exhibition devoted to the 67th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War held in Beijing

February 24, 2012 at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing opened an exhibition "Memory of the War Time", dedicated to 67th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the war against Japan, timed to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland. The exhibition is organized by the Government of the Amur region, with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in China and the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing.

The main event of the grand opening ceremony was the presentation of memory books containing lists of names of soldiers killed in the sector of the 2nd Red Banner Army of the 2nd Far Eastern Front in 1945 and buried in the urban district of Heihe, Heilongjiang Province. In a solemn ceremony, the books were granted to the military attaches and representatives of the embassies of the countries from the territory of which the soldiers had been called for military service: Republics of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

The exhibition features photographs and documents of the war time. There are also the photos revealing the collaboration of Chinese and Russian sides to perpetuate the memory of Soviet soldiers and improvement of military graves located in areas of Northeast China and the Amur region.

The opening ceremony gave a start to the annual national campaign "St. George Ribbon", dedicated to the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic World.
