World culture: “Henri Moore and the Classical Canon of Modern Sculpture” Exhibition in Moscow
The exhibition "Henry Moore and the Classical Canon of Modern Sculpture" opens February 21, 2012 in the Moscow Kremlin.
British sculptor Henry Moore is one of the greatest masters of the twentieth century. His works are held by major museums around the world, and monumental sculptures decorate the squares in front of the main public buildings in Europe - the Houses of Parliament in London, the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the work of Henry Moore, in its various manifestations - from the easel sculpture and bronze models of his famous monumental sculpture to graphic works, textiles and tapestries made in accordance with his sketches.
The exhibition features the best examples of fine sculpture, drawings, prints, sketches for the tissues, as well as samples of textiles and tapestries. The works were provided by the Henry Moore Foundation, the British Council, a number of museum collections in the UK.
A richly illustrated catalog with a large number of documentary photographs and articles of Britain's leading experts on the 20th century sculpture has been issued for the exhibition.
