The Kaliningrad Regional History & Art Museum is celebrating the centennial of its building – Stadthalle.
March 23, 2012 the museum launched the jubilee exhibition "100 years of Stadthalle." The exposition using museum means tells the story of the unique architectural monument of the early 20th century. There are rare photos and postcards featuring the City Hall, archival materials of geological and archaeological expedition to search for cultural values in the premises of Stadthalle, German newspapers with ads for musical evenings, authentic objects from the museum telling about the cultural life of Konigsberg. For the first time the exhibition displays the only surviving "Singing Mask" by Lothar Sauer, created by him in 1912. This famous stone bas-relief, which decorated the main entrance of Stadthalle before the war, was donated to the museum by the Kaliningrad resident Victoria Amineva. The exhibition also presents the design of future museum interior.
