Memory of Russia: “Kulikovo Field” Museum Complex to be finished by 2014
“Kulikovo Field” Museum Complex will be completed by 2014 on a site of the battle between the Russian and Golden Horde armies in 14th century, announced Tula Region Governor Vladimir Gruzdev in the annual message.
The museum and exhibition complex is expected to occupy the area of over 5,000 m2. One of its highlights will be the observation deck which will enable all visitors to discover “The Battle of Kulikovo Field” open-air exposition.
The Head of Tula Region said that the restoration of Tula Kremlin is to start in the near future, too.
“Kulikovo Field” Museum-Reserve includes a complex of branches scattered around Tula Region: “Tula Antiquities” Museum and Exhibition Center, Museum of History of Russian Merchants in Yepifan village, Museum and Memorial Complex of Monastyrshchina village and a Memorial on the Red Hill of Kulikovo Field.
Every September military and historical clubs arrive in Tula to take part in a festival on Kulikovo Field where within several days they re-enact different stages of the battle.
In 2009 by the order of the President of Russia “Kulikovo Field” Museum-Reserve was included to the National Code of Particularly Valuable Sites of Peoples’ Cultural Heritage.
