Memorable dates of Russia: Ivan Goncharov’s archives to get published in celebration of writer’s 200th birth anniversary

Archives of Ivan Goncharov will be published for the first time in celebration of the writer’s 200th birth anniversary. Unique publications of Goncharov’s articles and essays in Russian and German, photo albums “Goncharov’s Simbirsk”, “Goncharov’s Petersburg” are to come out soon. “Biography of Ivan Goncharov” authored by French writer Henri Troyat will get released, too.

Restoration works are about to finish at the house where Ivan Goncharov was born and at the “Book Palace” in Ulyanovsk. They are going to open to coincide with the anniversary of the classical author of Russian literature due in June. Several museum exhibitions devoted to the writer’s life and work will be launched in the writer’s native town. Ulyanovsk will also run research conferences which will bring together experts from some 30 countries.
