Libraries of Russia: Unique exhibits kick off as a part of “Depot of Manuscripts” academic session at the National Library of Russia

On March 16th 2012 the National Library of Russia, Main Building (St. Petersburg) is holding a yearly event “Depot of Manuscripts”. As a part of the conference the NLR’s Manuscript Department is staging two unique exhibitions – “In celebration of 100th birth anniversary of Natalia Dudinskaya” and “Autographs of French writers amassed by Russian collectors”.

This is the first time the National Library of Russia releases unpublished dairies which belonged to a celebrated ballerina N. M. Dudinskaya and letters of A. Ya. Vaganova from besieged Leningrad. Moreover library’s guests will have a chance to discover Dudinskaya’s rich archive – school notebooks, letters and photographs. Of particular interest are materials related to evacuation of Kirov Theatre to the Urals during the Great Patriotic War.

“Autographs of French writers amassed by Russian collectors” exhibit showcases different materials, mainly letters written by outstanding figures of the French literature of 18th – 20th cc., which had gradually become a part of the Manuscript Department. The show also features graphic materials.

Exhibitions will run till April 6th.
