International events: Days of Manchester in St. Petersburg

As a part of the Days of Manchester program underway in St. Petersburg on March 6th 2012 the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg), Korf Hall is launching an exhibition “In celebration of 50th anniversary of friendly relationship”».

The exposition showcases unique editions dated to 18th c. from the collection of the National Library of Russia – a two-volume “History of Manchester”, 1771 and “Notes of the Literary and Philosophical Society of Manchester”, 1785. Other exhibits include books on culture, history, literature, sport life of Manchester, as well as albums, maps and other editions which address the past and the present of the major megalopolis of England.

On show are works by young photographers and artists from Manchester and St. Petersburg, as well as photo materials from archives of St. Petersburg Association for International Cooperation and “Manchester – St. Petersburg” Friendship Society, devoted to friendly relationship of two cities.

The exhibition has been organized by the National Library of Russia in partnership with the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, Manchester Town Council, “Manchester – St. Petersburg” Friendship Society, Manchester Metropolitan University and St. Petersburg Association for International Cooperation.
