June 6, 2012 the largest IT-companies will simultaneously activate the IPv6 support of IP-addresses on their services: it will be the World IPv6 Launch, reported the representatives of the national Internet domain Coordination Center.

In St. Petersburg, this day will be held the "Russian IPv6 Day », devoted to the introduction of the new Internet Protocol TCP / IP, supporting IPv6. The event will be part of the World launch of the new protocol.

The seminar participants will discuss the transition to IPv6, the challenges that the providers, equipment and software manufacturers should face.

The TCP/IP supports IP-addresses of 128 bits. The need for transition to IPv6 is due to the fact that in the first half of 2011 the pool of free IP-addresses for the IPv4 protocol was completely exhausted. Thus, a new protocol was launched in a test mode last year.
