Archives of Russia: “The Steppe Duma as the local government of Khakassia” Documentary Exhibition at the National Archive of the Republic of Khakassia

July 13, 2012 at the National Archive of the Republic of Khakassia (Abakan) will open an exhibition “The Steppe Duma as the local government of Khakassia”.

190 years ago, July 22, 1822, the "Charter for the management of foreigners" was adopted - a legislative act of the imperial government, which established the basic principles and management system of non-Russian peoples of Siberia (foreigners).

The exhibition includes historical documents, the most valuable primary sources in the study of the native land – documentary materials of Steppe Dumas.

The very first documents submitted to the Steppe Duma are also at display: the order on appointment to the position of the founder, directions to the newly created Kaybal Steppe Duma; information about the organization of the local government, such as: verdicts about the election of judges, the selection of counts and clerks of the Duma and others. At the exhibition you can seen the oath of the non-Russian, who was elected to the position of tribal headman.

Historical documents are presented in several sections and will certainly attract the attention of historians, researchers, journalists, and teachers of educational institutions, senior pupils and students, as well as all interested in the history of the native land.
