
Memorable dates of Russia: Scientific-practical conference “Moscow during the Patriotic War of 1812”
August 3-31, 2012 in the framework of the 200th anniversary of Russian victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 the main archival office of Moscow is held the scientific-practical conference “Moscow during the Patriotic War of 1812”.
In the framework of the conference the Main Archive Office of Moscow presents the result of the hard and intensive work of Moscow archivists: a unique publishing program, dedicated to the history of the Patriotic War of 1812.
Thanks to the efforts of Moscow archivists to the scientific circulation priceless historical documents will be introduced. This project is a significant contribution to the preservation of the historical memory of the outstanding Russian victory, which enhances knowledge of the history of our country to the widest circles of the society.
A two-volume book “Moscow and the Patriotic War of 1812”, “Year 1812”. The Moscow calendar” and “Moscow in 1812. Memories of contemporaries” will be presented.
The conference is attended by prominent Russian and foreign historians, linguists, writers, educators, teachers, representatives of the Federal Archival Agency, Institute of Russian History, Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Russian Literature "Pushkin House", the Russian FSB, and Federal Security Service of Russia, federal and regional archives. The following issues are offered for the discussion:
- Moscow and the Moscow region in events of the Patriotic War of 1812;
- Archival sources on "Moscow and the Patriotic War of 1812" in the regional and federal repositories;
- The memory of the heroes and events of 1812 in Moscow;
- Current activities of state and public institutions on the study and promotion of the history of the Patriotic War of 1812.
The conference presents the historical and documentary exhibition "Moscow in the Patriotic War of 1812", revealing on the basis of archival documents the Moscow scenes of Patriotic War of 1812 and problems of the revival of Moscow in the post-war period.
