History and culture: Exhibition, dedicated to the official and independent Art of the Soviet Union and Poland in Moscow

An exhibition "Behind the Iron Curtain. Official and independent art in the Soviet Union and Poland. Years 1945-1989" runs from August 22 to October 8, 2012 at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative-Applied and Folk Art in Moscow.

The exhibition attempts to a comparative analysis of the features of the artistic process of the second half of the XX century in the next two former Soviet bloc. The exhibition is an example of "problem presentation" of collection when on the basis of the collected material happens the artistic interpretation of the political, social and artistic processes in the life of both countries for fifty years after the war.

For the first time more than 100 works are in the same space- paintings, drawings and sculpture. All the works – 122 works of 74 artists – are from the collection of the creator of the Foundation of Polish contemporary art Peter Novitsky.
