5 August 2012

In the Japanese capital of Tokyo opened an exhibition of paintings by Russian artist Ilya Repin from the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery. There are about 80 works by the artist at the exhibition.

Repin’s works are not very well known in Japan, but representatives of the State Tretyakov Gallery think that this largest in the history of the country exhibition of works of the artist will help to rectify the situation.

"Repin is the epitome of the school of realism with incredible abilities to express – say the organizers of the exhibition. - We sincerely hope that all guests will receive a sincere pleasure, and the works of the famous master will make a lasting impression on them".

The exposition is presented at the Tokyo exhibition hall "Bunkamura" and will run until August 10.
