Internet and culture: European Digital Lab launches a new website

September 5, 2012 European Digital Lab, a company that has more than 10 years of experience in digitization, restoration, preservation and binding of rare books, and provides services for the creation of digital libraries and archives in Russia, opened a new website in Russia.

The company’s website features detailed information about the services provided by the laboratory, describes in detail scan processes and manual input, recognition and integration of graphic images, creation of digital archives and digital libraries, damage assessment and restoration of paper, binding restoration, restoration of decorative elements, creation of protective carrying cases, making of covers, photo albums, gift editions, VIP-circulation editions, formation and registration of private libraries.

On the website of the European Digital Lab one will find detailed information about the equipment it uses at work: industrial stream scanners, book planetary scanners, flatbed scanners and scanners for cards.

The highlight of the site is a documentary film, lasting about 23 minutes, about the history of the first books, which are now monuments, the way they can be saved from falling into decay, restored and saved on paper and in digital form, making them available to reader.
