Memory of Russia abroad: The grand model of the Battle of Borodino is exhibited in London
      The grand model of the Battle of Borodino, the creation of which took four decades at the British enthusiast Jerry West, from September 4, 2012 is put on display in London on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the battle. The exhibition, which also presents documents of the Russian diplomatic correspondence during the Patriotic War of 1812, was opened in a representative office of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
Due to diligent study of specialized literature and materials, a military history enthusiast Jerry West managed to reproduce the scene of one of the largest and bloodiest battles of the Napoleonic Wars. According to the author, he began to work at the layout of the Borodino battle in the early 70's of the last century. But the work has been completed recently.
The battle model was created by West on a scale 1 to 72. According to him, it presentsmore than 21 thousand of pieces, the average height is of about 25 mm.
The exhibition is open to the public from 4 to 14 September.
