
Memory of Russia: Exhibition, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 in Saratov
From October 12 to December 16, 2012 in Saratov State Art Museum of A. N. Radischev was open a new exhibition from the collection of the Radischev museum and the State Borodino War and History Museum and Reserve, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 - one of the brightest and heroic pages in the history of Russia.
Presented exhibits give opportunity to trace the major milestones of artistic development included in the Albanian territories of the Late Middle Ages.
The exhibition features paintings, drawings, sculptures, and models of uniforms, weapons, books and medals, reflecting the progress of the war in 1812, and containing images of personalities: the participants of the Battle of Borodino and all those who have a direct relevance to the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Battle of Borodino in particular.
The exhibition halls of the museum building at St. Pervomayskaya, 75 host the exhibition from the collection of the State Borodino War and History Museum and Reserve. A unique portrait gallery is presented. The unique decoration of the exhibition are sculptures of Alexander I by an unknown author, M. B. Barclay de Tolly, the sculptor Boris Orlovsky, Napoleon Bonaparte, the sculptor Reber and others.
Authentic samples of uniforms, weapons and equipment of the first quarter of the XIX century, belonging to the Russian Imperial Army and the Grand Army of Napoleon Bonaparte as well as the findings from the field of Borodino complement the exhibition.
In the halls of the museum at ST. Radischev, 39 is situated the exhibition from the cycle “Graphic album of the Radischev Museum”.
IIt is composed of more than fifty valuable prints and several drawings of masters of the first half of the XIX century Russian and European schools. The exposition is located in two halls of graphics.
The largest section of the exhibition consists of portraits of the Russian participants of the Patriotic War of 1812. Thanks to this vast iconography, the Radishchev Museum has papers of S. Cardelli, J. S. Klauber, K. V. Ceska, A. G. Ukhtomskiy, A. A. Florova, F. Vendramin, P. I. Maslovsky, A. Afanasieva, S. P. Shiflyara, S. D. Baskakov, K. Anisimov, M. Ivanov.
One of the valuable exhibits of the exhibition is a drawing "Portrait of uncle" by M. Y. Lermontov signed by the poet.
The exhibition hall of foreign prints presents more than twenty works of the first half of the XIX century. These are rare and diverse in genre prints, authored by well-known masters of the European school and unknown engravers.
The work of French artist Jean Godefroy "Congress of Vienna" is the center of the exposition and at the same time, its logical conclusion. It is made from a drawing by Jean-Baptiste Isabey, who attended the Congress as a member of the French delegation, which includes portraits of 23-participants. The main representatives of Russia at the Congress were Emperor Alexander I and Foreign Minister Count Karl V. Nesselrode.
