History and culture: The first meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Historical Society takes place

This year, which was declared as the Year of the Russian history, has revived Russian Historical Society. It is headed by the Speaker of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin. The new organization has set a global agenda - the creation of the country's new historical culture: the eradication of myths, the popularization of historical knowledge and the formation of an objective view of the past. On October 5, 2012 the first meeting of the Presidium of the Board of the society took place.

The immediate task of the society is to create your own archive and library using digital technology. The plans include evaluation of educational programs on the history, organization of scientific and educational activities. The society plans to involve the maximum number of interested professionals.

"An integral part of the company may be the association of teachers of history, which we created two years ago. December this year it is scheduled the Second Congress. What should be a history book, what should be the historical education in the country - it can also be in the public eye", - says the director of the Institute of General History of the RAS, the Russian co-chairman of the historical society Alexander Chubaryan.
