World culture: Works of Nicholas Roerich from private collections are presented in Moscow

Exhibition of works by the Great Russian artist Nicholas Roerich was opened October 8, 2012 in Moscow. The exposition of the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich presented about 60 works from private collections, most of which are exhibited for the first time in Russia.

Rare for the Russian public exhibits present almost all periods of Roerich's work. Among them there are works which are widely known from reproductions, as well as paintings, which for many people will be the discovery, believes the staff of the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich.

Opening of the exhibition dedicated to the anniversary date - the 110th anniversary of the birth of his son Nicholas Roerich - the world famous scientist-orientalist Yuri Roerich (1902-1960). This event precedes the beginning of the four-day public scientific conference devoted to the activities of the largest oriental XX century. He is the founder of the national school of Tibetan and Mongolian, the author of numerous works on Tibetan dialects, compiled "Tibetan-Russian-English dictionary" with Sanskrit parallels and the founder of Science Nomadistics – nomad science.

The conference brought together scholars from around the world, they will make presentations about the life, work and research activities of Yuri Roerich, the current development of scientific concepts of the scientist, problems of protection and preservation of the heritage of the Roerich family, each of the four members of which contributed to the treasury of world culture and science. So, Helena Roerich, the painter's wife, appears as a philosopher and thinker. Their eldest son, Yuri, belongs to the galaxy major orientalists of our time, and the youngest, Svyatoslav, a brilliant artist, is particularly famous as a portrait painter, also known as an educator and social activist.

The exhibition of the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich will be open for visitors from October 16 to December 9.
