The Presidential Library delegation has participated in the work of the XI Theoretical and Practical Conference “LIBNET 2012”

November 19-23, 2012 there was held the XI Theoretical and Practical Conference “Participants and users of the National Information Library center LIBNET”, in the work of which took part the Presidential Library delegation.

V. K. Nikolaeva, Deputy Head of the Department of Libraries and Archives of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, welcomed participants of the conference. B. R. Loginov, Director General of the LIBNET center, delivered a speech on the work in 2012 and plans for development of LIBNET center till 2018.

Y. P. Pimoshenko, Director of the Reserve Center of the Presidential Library, and T. L. Maskhulia, Head of Department of forming and processing of information resources of the Presidential Library told about the implementation of the project “Creation of a Union Catalog of Electronic Resources (CUCER), approved by the Presidential Property Management Department of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The project includes the Presidential Library, the National Information Library Center LIBNET, the Russian State Library (RSL), the National Library of Russia (NLR), the Belgorod State Universal Scientific Library, the Vladimir Regional Universal Scientific Library of A. M. Gorky, and the Tverskaya Regional Universal Scientific Library of A. M. Gorky. The report noted that SKER will operate as a public register of library resources turning digitized. Works on the formation of SKER were found to be successful by conference participants and it was decided to expand the circle of participants of the project. Also at the plenary meeting A. I. ​​Visly, the CEO of RSL delivered a speech on the report addressing the technical, organizational and legal aspects of the National Digital Library (NDL). Report of O. N. Shorin, Deputy Director General for Information of the NLR was devoted to a new stage of technological development of NLR.

At the end of the plenary session were presented certificates to certify catalogers of SKBR, among them are O. M. Oznobikhin and M. N. Potapova, bibliographers of the Branch of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential library in the Tyumen region.

The participants of the conference were presented and given the publication “Methodical recommendations on formation of subject access to the bibliographic and authority records in the electronic catalogue of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library” (Saint-Petersburg, 2012). Authors of the handbook are specialists of the Presidential Library.

In the framework of the Conference representatives of the Presidential Library have had two training seminars: “Problems of creation and development of the SKER” and “Theory and practice of the authority control in SKBR based on Single authority file (EAF) LIBNET”, which arouse a great interest among the audience.
