World culture: Exhibition of unique “Sarmatians Treasures” in Novosibirsk

The Novosibirsk State Local History Museum for the first time in Novosibirsk, presents the exhibition "Sarmatians Treasures" from the holdings of the Azov History, Archaeology and Paleontology Museum, from November 16, 2012.

The exhibition "Sarmatians Treasures" numbers 2,329 exhibits. These are unique items, works of ancient art found by archaeologists in the Rostov region, including antique glassware and jewelry found in the recesses of the Sarmatian burial mounds. Many items are on display for the first time.

The exhibition is intended for a wide audience and introduces the visitor to rare exhibits that reflect the spiritual world and cultural identity of the ancient population of the steppes at the border of Asia and Europe, gives an idea of the formation and development of ancient peoples, tells the story of the Sarmatians – tribes that replaced at the historical scene menacing Scythians, and dominated the Eurasian steppe for seven centuries.
