History of Saint-Petersburg: Exhibition “Urban Sculpture. Traditions and modernity” to the 80th anniversary of the Museum of Urban Sculpture

The exhibition "Urban Sculpture. Traditions and Modernity", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Museum of Urban Sculpture, opens November 3, 2012 in St. Petersburg.

The State Museum of Urban Sculpture is the only museum in Russia, which is running works of monumental sculpture, located in a natural urban environment - in parks, streets and squares.

In a unique city museum collection there is more than three thousand works of monumental art: classical and innovative, and this collection is updating. The exhibition of the New Exhibition Hall of the museum presents models of monuments, competitive projects, proposals for the creation of new monuments. Their authors are brilliant sculptors of the past and the present. "Life" of monuments in the urban environment is embodied in the graphic works of famous masters.
