Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibition project, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the House of Romanov, in Moscow

28 December 2012

The Moscow museum “House of the Icon” opened an exhibition project, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the Romanovs, which will be celebrated in 2013. The viewers were presented two complementary exhibitions – “The Fall of the Dynasty” and “The Russian Art Nouveau”. The first one includes personal items and documents of the family of the last emperor. The second presents a kind of “background” of the time of one of the last “great” styles in the art.

Personal things, works of art, archival documents of members of the Imperial family are presented. Their earthy life is recreated with the help of unique exhibits: the throne and cane of Crown Prince, lifetime portraits of the Emperor and the Empress by the court artist Alexander Mayakovsky. These portraits till the end of 2011 were in Sweden, in the house of the Grand Duchess Olga.

More than 300 exhibits from different museums and private collections recreate the era where the family of the last Emperor lived, their contemporaries, allowing touching this page of history.
