International events: The program of cultural exchanges between Russia and India in 2013-2015 is approved
The program of cultural exchanges between Russia and India for 2013-2015 was signed by the head of the Ministry of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky and his Indian counterpart Chandresh Kumari Katoch during the official visit of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to India.
It is planned that countries will share technical performances, exhibitions of contemporary art, visits of art groups, museum staff, writers and filmmakers.
Among other items of the program are exchange of publications and other printed materials between libraries of two countries including the Russian State library and the National Library of Kolkata. A separate item is allocated to provide assistance to Russian and Indian scientists in collaborative research on the study of the heritage of the Roerich family and its popularization. This includes the work on the revival of the Institute of Himalayan Studies “Urusvati”.
Also they discuss the possibility if holding of annual cultural festivals. The festival of Indian Culture in Russia and the festival of Russian culture in India were held in 2011.
The program comes into effect from January 1, 2013 and it will run till December 31, 2015 or till the date of signature of the next document.
