Museums of Russia: Events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Chelyabinsk Local History Museum
2013 for the Chelyabinsk Local History Museum is an anniversary year. In summer the largest institution of the region will celebrate 90 years old.
It was open on July 1, 1923, although the preparation of the collection began even before - in 1913. During its existence the museum several times moved into different rooms. On June 29, 2006 there was held the opening of the new building of the Chelyabinsk Regional Local History Museum. Now the technical equipment of the museum is modern in all respects: there is a multimedia equipment in the halls, storage and display conditions of are up to quality of the leading museums. At present, the museum contains over 300,000 items, including artifacts of national significance.
Already now, the museum specialists begin to prepare for the anniversary. In late April, the anniversary exhibition "Keepers of Time" will be open. It will present a collection of items, made by the first museum director Ivan Gorokhov, as well as new artifacts and antiques that recreate the look by skillful work of restorers.
The exhibition tells about the people without whom the museum is unthinkable - restorers and specialists of funds, the scientific achievements of historians, archaeologists, anthropologists, biologists, photographers and other professionals. There will be show small fragments of the most interesting exhibitions and expositions for the last 90 years, as well as books, catalogs, posters, brochures, invitations, printed by the museum.
In spring and summer 2013, the Museum of Local History will open several expositions. So, in late June, there will be open a personal exhibition of the museum director, Vladimir Bogdanov, who this year will celebrate 60 years old.
