The Presidential Library: Condolences to the family and friends of Aleksey German-senior
The Presidential Library expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Aleksey German-senior – the famous Soviet and Russian film director, scenarist, actor and producer. People's Artist of Russia A. Y. German died in Saint-Petersburg at the age of 75.
At the heart of the creative work of Aleksey German has always been the fact of life, the authenticity of human relations, developing in the specific historical period. His films are distinguished not only by the attention to details, the image of the era of the picture, but above all – a rigorous study of the material. Works by German with documentary precision reflect the life of the country. Experiences, views of the artist are based on facts, the various sources so that often they are the historical studies for future generations.
For the Presidential Library as the largest nation-wide center of storage of documents and materials about the history of the Russian state permeated with deep and searching of documentary accuracy of artistic expression works of Aleksey Yurievich German is close and clear. We hope that, along with such films as “Twenty Days Without War”, “My Friend Ivan Lapshin”, “Khrustalyov, My Car!” and others and the new film “Hard to Be a God” will be released and will become a posthumous monument to the great master.
