Society and culture: Unique museum-exhibition program in the Sverdlovsk region

February 15, 2013 in Irbit State Museum of Fine Arts (the Sverdlovsk region), with the support of Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk region opens a unique museum exhibition program of “Ave Maria” which is the first experience of cooperation between museums of the Irbit and Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts.

The program includes three exhibitions. Presented in the exhibition works are unique and first exposed to view to a wide audience. Thus, the project will open the exhibition of “single picture” – to residents of Irbit will be presented works, attributed to the brushe of the great Italian artist of High Renaissance Raphael “The Holy Family” or “Madonna del Popolo” (1509).

The picture, best known at the Urals as “The Madonna of Tagil”, will be shown for the first time in Irbit, where it was brought from the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts, in exchange for the “Penitent Mary Magdalene with her sister Martha” by Peter Rubens, which within two months will be on display in the Nizhny Tagil.

The second exhibition “Raphael through ages and arts” is a large-scale project, the main target is chosen from the greatest genius of the art world Raphael. The exhibition features works by three dozen masters of all the major European schools since the beginning of the second half of the XVI to XIX century. All of the paintings, prints and drawings are executed in originals of the great artist.

The final section of the museum and the exhibition program “Ave Maria. From Durer to Chagall” presents prints and drawings by European masters of various national schools for 500 years, and the combined way of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. In the structure of the program, the content and highly artistic retrospective collection of graphics is facing the culmination of the exhibition - the beautiful “The Madonna of Tagil”.

To the creative genius of the Renaissance is completely dedicated the section of the exhibition “Raphael through ages and arts”. The whole gallery of “Madonnas”, performed with the famous originals, fully reveals the important subject of the artist. “Madonna” by Raphael serves as a connecting thread throughout the exhibition program.

Also, visitors will be offered a video-music composition “Ave Maria in the works of European composers, musicians and vocalists of XX century”.
