Memory of Russia: A traveling photo exhibition, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad, is created in the Altai region
The presentation of the traveling photo exhibition “At the walls of Stalingrad” took place on 1 February 2103 at the military-historical department of the Altai State Local History Museum (Barnaul).
Created by materials from the museum's collection, the exhibition also includes photos provided by regional nonprofit organization of war veterans and military service, documents and photographs from the family archives of the residents of Barnaul.
The exhibits show that Altai formations and called up from the Altai soldiers were involved in defensive and offensive operations in the Battle of Stalingrad, surrounded by the army of Friedrich Paulus, street battles: for the Mamayev Kurgan, the railway station, the tractor plant, were among the defenders of the “Pavlov House”, made feats in the air battles near Stalingrad.
Among the relics are letters from the front of battles, personal documents and the front photographs of veterans of the battle – residents of the Altai region.
For the first time material relic (memory of the defeated enemy) – a trophy solder’s pot with inscriptions in Italian, fylfot and unfinished woman’s portrait are presented.
