Memory of Russia: Exhibition: “Stalingrad fights” in Moscow
1 February 2013
From February 1 to 24, 2013 at the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Moscow) opens the exhibition “Stalingrad fights”. It is timed to the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany troops near Stalingrad.
The exhibition features artifacts from the fund collections of the museum: a unique collection of pamphlets, personal items of the commander of the Southwestern Front, Colonel-General N. F. Vatutin, and hero spy Sasha Filippov, the weapons of the opposing sides.
The compositional center of the exhibition is the sketch of circular panorama “The Battle of Stalingrad”, made in the late 1950s by artists of the M. B. Grekov studio.
A large exhibition space is devoted to the works of painting, drawing and poster art.
