Book publishing and book distribution: International Book Fair in Leipzig

The historic concert hall in Leipzig – “Gewandhaus” – on March 14, 2013 hosted the opening ceremony of the International Leipzig Book Fair, which opened its doors to the public and experts in the field of bookselling and the media. The show is attended by more than two thousand publishers and companies from 43 countries, including Russia.

The fair is traditionally opened with the award of the Leipzig Book Award for the contribution to European understanding.

As part of the the fair in 365 different institutions of the city will be held presentations of new books, meetings with famous writers, readings and discussions. Its work will be accompanied with the Europe's largest literary festival “Reading Leipzig”. Totally, the Leipzig Fair will provide to all readers about 100 thousand books, of which 20 thousand – are novelties.

The work of the Leipzig Book Fair will run till March 17. As expected, it will be visited by 160 thousand people.
