Memorable dates: Events, dedicated to the Memory Day of the Holy Prince Yaroslav the Wise, in Veliky Novgorod

On March 5, according to the calendar of the Russian Orthodox Church is celebrated the Memory Day of the Holy Prince Yaroslav the Wise.

On this day in Veliky Novgorod are held events, dedicated to the memorable date.

In the reading room of the old building of the Humanitarian Institute (the Novgorod State University) opens the exhibition from the collection of the Likhudovsky Museum, dedicated to Yaroslav the Wise.

The name of Yaroslav the Wise was given to the Novgorod State University on December 7, 1994. This initiative was made by the head of the Novgorod Archaeological expedition academician Valentin Yanin after the summer of the same year archaeologists found the personal seal of Y. the Wise. 

It was that Prince who opened in Novgorod in 1030 the first school and gave the city a Code of laws “Russian Truth”.

June 30, 2012 in the lobby of the main building of the Novgorod State University took place the solemn opening of the bust of Yaroslav the Wise.
