Society and culture: Unique exhibits presented in the Museum Reserve “Kolomenskoye”
February 26, 2013 at the Moscow Integrated Museum-Reserve “Kolomenskoye” opened a new exhibition “From Christmas to Easter”. It represents more than 30 unique items from the museum's history. Some of them are unique. Among the exhibits are works of the XVI-XIX centuries, icons, crosses, religious books and graphic materials telling of earthly way of Jesus Christ from Christmas to Easter.
The complex of museum objects introduces visitors to the main Orthodox holidays associated with the birth of Christ, His resurrection and Ascension. Of particular interest are the icons of the XVII century: “The Annunciation”, “Entry into Jerusalem”, “Ascension”, and “Crucifixion” of the XVI century, “Christmas” of 1795 and “Resurrection” of the XIX century, church books with unique prints.
For the first time at the exhibition visitors can see a unique map of the Holy Land of the XVII century. It was published in Western Europe especially for the pilgrims. In those days it was popular to print a map of the Holy Land from the places of the life of Jesus Christ and the apostles. These cards in Russia at that time were not yet published.
The exhibition is housed in the church of St. George in Kolomenskoye - the historical and architectural monument of the XIX century. The exhibition will run until June 16, 2013
