World history and culture: The exhibition, dedicated to the Holy Trinity Chapel in Lublin Castle, in Vologda

30 April 2013

The exhibition “Where the East Meets the West” opened in the South West tower of the Vologda Kremlin on April 26, 2013.

The exposition is devoted to one of the most interesting sites of European cultural heritage - the Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Lublin Castle. The uniqueness of this monument is that it combines the elements of European and Russian medieval art: built in the XIV century, the Gothic Catholic Cathedral in the XV century was painted by Russian craftsmen in line with Orthodox tradition.

The exhibition, which presents extensive photographic material, giving a complete picture of the complex of temple murals and frescoes, illustrating the restoration process, takes place in the framework of the international project “Polish Cultural Spring”. The organizers of the project are the Government of the Vologda region, the Administration of Vologda, Cherepovets city hall and the Polish Institute in Saint-Petersburg.
