Museums of Russia: The exhibition of old photograph in the Museum-Reserve ‘Spasskoye-Lutovinovo”

April 28, 2013 at the I. S. Turgenev State Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve “Spasskoye-Lutovinovo” (the Orel region) opened the exhibition of old photographs from the collections of the State Literary Museum (Moscow) and the I. S. Turgenev Museum “Spasskoye –Lutovinovo”.

The exhibition features portraits of I. S. Turgenev, F. I. Tyutchev, N. A. Nekrasov, F. M. Dostoevsky, A. I. Herzen, N. P. Ogareva, A. K. Tolstoy, A. N. Ostrovsky, N. G. Chernyshevsky, A. A. Fet and M. P. Botkina, the Yasnaya Polyana photos of L. N. Tolstoy; portraits of P. Viardot and E. Rachel, M. G. Savina, photos of persons of the estate environment of the writer, his younger contemporaries, people from all walks of life: members of the royal family, government and politicians, clergymen, merchants and peasants, implemented not only by recognized masters of photography in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg - A. Denier, C. Shapiro, S. Levitsky, A. Pazetti, but  also by photographers from Orel, Tula, Voronezh, Vitebsk, Grodno, Kislovodsk, Warsaw, Berlin and Paris.

Totally visitors can see more than 150 photographs, amateur and professional, made in the period from the 1850s to the 1920s in a variety of genres - Photo species, interior, landscape, home, views of Spasskoye-Lutovinovo made in September 1883 by well-known St. Petersburg photographer V. Caric, amateur photos showing the life of Orlov estates at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, pictures of cities and places associated with the life and work of the writer, and to the public will be presented diaries, notebooks, personal belongings, noble life, belonging to people from the local environment of I. S. Turgenev.

The exhibition will run till May 20, 2013.
