Society and culture: The Scientific-Practical Conference “A. P. Chekhov in the cultural space of the XXI century” in Yaroslavl

25-26 April 2013 in Yaroslavl is held the Scientific-Practical Conference “A. P. Chekhov in the cultural space of the XXI Century”, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the founding of the A. P. Chekhov Yaroslavl Library and the 95th anniversary of the day giving it the name of the great Russian writer.

The purpose of the conference is the preservation of cultural and historical memory of the great Russian writer, strengthening and expansion of creative links between cultural institutions bearing the name of Anton Chekhov, the consolidation of actions of librarians, teachers, local historians and Chekhov lovers on the search and application of new forms of work on promoting the literary heritage of the writer among different readership, particularly the youth.

To participate in the conference are invited leaders and experts of libraries, cultural and educational institutions, scholars-Chekhov lovers and students of local lore. 

It is supposed to discuss the following topics: the various aspects of Chekhov heritage issues of the writer’s relations with Russian and foreign representatives of literature and art, classics and contemporaries, the role and importance of personality and creativity of Chekhov in the XXI century, estimates the value of the great Russian writer with modern positions, the new local history research.
