Internet and Society: The concept of development strategy of the Internet in Russia

During the opening of RIF+KIB Conference that was held on 17-19 of April, 2013, near Moscow Chief Executive of the Russian Association of Electronic Communications Sergei Plugotarenko in the annual overview report introduced the concept of a completely new industry project: the Development Strategies of Russian Internet for 2013-2018 years period.

The strategy of "RUnet 2013-2018" should become the core for the preparation and refinement of doctrinal, conceptual, program and other documents that define the objectives and activities of public authorities, as well as the principles and mechanisms of their interaction with organizations and individuals in the development of the Internet in the Russian Federation.

As the developers aimed, the Strategy identifies the goals, objectives, principles and main directions of the state policy of development of Russian segment of the Internet as one of the priorities of the course to the innovation economy of the Russian Federation.

The aim of the Strategy is to create favorable conditions for the dynamic development of information and telecommunications in the Internet of the Russian Federation as the main medium for innovative modernization of the country, the increase of the knowledge economy, and the enhancement of technological and economic competitiveness of Russia in the international scene.
