Internet and Society: The Chapter of international, non-profit organization InternetSociety (ISOC) opens in Russia
The Chapter of international, non-profit organization InternetSociety (ISOC) opens in Russia. As community members point to, the event will link the developers of Internet technologies and standards with the State, the commercial organizations and Internet users.
Among primacy efforts of ISOC Russia the Internet infrastructure development, harmonization of the relations between the State, society and business in the matter of secure networking, Cyrillic segment of the Internet and the system of Russian-speaking Internet addressing. ISOC Russia intends to support the scientific and educational projects with Internet development approaches.
“We noted a growing interest of public authorities to the Internet and aspire to reach a reasonable compromise taking into account the international practice, views of the Internet companies and average users”, - underlined Webnames.ru founder and initiator of Russian Chapter of ISOC Sergey Sharikov, who laid its foundation along with his colleague Alexey Sozonov a year ago.
Established in 1992 ISOC unites 145 organizations and 65 thousands individual Internet users around a world. There are more than 90 Chapters of ISOC in the different countries. The leaders and representatives of the industry top companies joined ISOC Russia, and anyone may associate oneself with this organization.
