Archives of Russia: The exhibition of documents, dedicated to the history of law enforcement and administrative bodies in Altai in the XVIII–XX centuries

April 16, 2013 in the exhibition hall of the State Archive of the Altai region (Barnaul) opens the exhibition of documents “Area of the law”. The exposition features documents and materials about the formation and development of the judicial, police, penal systems and their regional characteristics.

The section “To judge law is not hypocritical as well…” (XVIII-XIX centuries) will show documents about the first steps of the judiciary in the Kolyvano-Resurrection (Altay) Mining District. How complex and controversial was the period of the Soviet law enforcement agencies will tell the documents of the section “Born by revolution…” (1917-1920). To the fates of prominent and lesser-known figures of the section is devoted the section “Knights of Justice”.

The exhibition features more than two hundred and fifty documents. Among them - the unique plans and designs of buildings for the military consequences brig prisons, police agencies, correctional and educational barracks, guard booths and observation, uniforms for the protection of the police, as well as documents of personal archives.

On the same day will be traditionally held an open house, during which visitors can see the archive, microfilm laboratory, an exhibition “The area of the law” as well as a museum exhibit “Conspiracy of medical-terrorists” in the memorial room of the victims of political repression in the Altai.
