Memorable dates of Russia: The documentary-illustrative exhibition, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff, in Veliky Novgorod

April 11, 2013 in the reading room of the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library opens the documentary-illustrative exhibition “…The Novgorod Cathedral bell sang to me…” (the Novgorod pages of life and art of Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff), dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth and the 70th anniversary of memory of the composer. The exhibition is based on materials on findings of Valery Vasilievich Demidov – Director of the Museum of A. S. Arensky, A. K. Lyadov, S. V. Rachmaninoff in the S. V. Rachmaninoff Novgorod Regional College of Arts.

The exhibition features the geography of memory sights in Veliky Novgorod and the region, associated with Sergei Rachmaninoff and his family, as well as the objects related to preservation of memory of the composer in the Novgorod land. In addition, his works directly or indirectly are related to the composer’s native land.

The exhibition will be open in the reading room till September 1, 2013.
