Internet resources: Google Inc. to implement the project: “Street View” in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

Representatives of Google Russia started working on the project “Street View” (Street View) in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

According to the press service of the city administration, the project is an application for cards offered by the company. It extends the capabilities of Internet users, allows making virtual walk through their chosen geographical features, visit the historical monuments of the cultural heritage.

According to the Google representatives, for the project implementation it is used a specially equipped car traveling through the city streets with a speed not more than 5 miles per hour, carrying out continuous shooting camera installed on it. The viewing angles are 360 degrees and 290 degrees horizontally and vertically, respectively. High-quality panoramic images are then integrated in the card, and users are able to see them on the smallest details of landscapes. To complete the Kamchatka project it will be required at least 20 days.

The panoramic images of Russian cities appeared in the Russian city map service in February 2012. By March 17 this year, there have already been added pictures more than 200 Russian settlements. The Moscow region is fully photographed. In May are completed works on the streets of the Kaliningrad region.
