Society and culture: The exhibition of new acquisitions of graphics in the State Tretyakov Gallery

May 31, 2013 at the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) opens the exhibition “The gifts and acquisitions. New Items in the collection of graphics of the XVIII - beginning of the XX century” within the program “The Tretyakov Gallery opens its store-rooms”.

The previous exposition of acquisitions of graphic was shown in 2000, covering the income for almost 35 years.

The exhibition included about 200 original works and prints, as well as more than a dozen graphic albums. Timeframe of display cover the period from the beginning of XVII century to the 1930s. When creating the exposure it was taken into account as a chronological principle and aspiration as possible to maintain the integrity of received collections.

The exposition is open with the earliest works at the exhibition - three frontispiece of the Gospel, printed in 1606 in the workshop of A. M. Radishevsky. According to experts, they belong to the best examples of printmaking beginning of the XVII century. The transferred to a museum first class collection of book engraving of the XVII - beginning of the XIX century of Moscow and Ukrainian quality work increases the level of collection of prints of the State Tretyakov Gallery.

To the most important acquisitions of landscape painting should include two works by Isaac Levitan, filled with pastels, technique, in which most fully is revealed coloristic gift of the painter – “Flower Garden” (1890-1893) and “Autumn Landscape with a Church” (1893-1895 ).

The opening for the public will be the demonstration of the sketch plafond of the restaurant Kazan railway station (designed by A. V. Schusev) “Russian connects Europe and Asia” (early 1920s) made by E. E. Lansere, artist who combined in this paper the classical tradition of plafond painting with the new post-revolutionary symbolism.

All the demonstrated materials at the exhibition were of varying difficulty of the restoration.
