The Presidential Library congratulates V. N. Vasiliev with the rank of “Honorary citizen of Saint-Petersburg”

May 22, 2013 the Legislative Assembly of Saint-Petersburg has granted the Chairman of the regional public organization “Council of Rectors of Saint-Petersburg”, the Rector of the Saint-Petersburg State National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Nikolayevich Vasiliev the rank an Honorary citizen.

The title of “Honorary Citizen” is awarded annually on the eve of the Day of merit in promoting the role and status of Saint-Petersburg in Russia and abroad for two persons who have made outstanding contributions to the development of Saint-Petersburg, enhancing its role and authority in Russia and in the international arena; in strengthening of democracy and human rights, in the sciences, arts, spiritual and moral development of society. To the persons, to be awarded with that title, now also belongs V. N. Vasiliev.

As the Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Saint-Petersburg Vladimir Nikolayevich is a member of the Scientific Council of the Presidential Library. He takes an active part in the activities and projects of the library, fosters its fruitful cooperation with universities in the city.

The specialists of the Presidential Library congratulate Vladimir Nikolayevich with the recognition of his services to the community and the obtaining of such an honorary title.
