History of Saint-Petersburg: Celebrations for the 310th anniversary of the city foundation
In Saint-Petersburg on May 27 is held the culmination of celebrations dedicated to the Day of the City. The third day of the celebration will be more “official”. So, at 10.00 in the St. Isaac’s Cathedral began the Divine Liturgy, dedicated to the 310th anniversary of the Northern capital.
At the same time, at 10.20, at the Senate Square has started the solemn ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of Peter the Great. Then at the Mariinsky Palace will be held the traditional presentation of the insignia of “Honorary Citizen of Saint-Petersburg”. This year the honorary title has got the head of the Board of Directors Vladimir Vasiliev.
The midday shot gun of the Peter and Paul Fortress was also dedicated to the main event of the day – the 310th anniversary of Saint-Petersburg.
