Russian museums: The unique exhibits presented at the Museum of Telephone History opened in Saint-Petersburg
The Museum of Telephone History has opened in St. Petersburg. It features nearly 500 ancient phones.
The museum’s exhibits cover the period from the time of the invention to the present day. The exhibition includes a copy of the first phone designed in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. The device, which belonged to Alexandra Feodorovna, the wife of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II, is a genuine artifact.
The museum has become the largest in Russia by the number of exhibits Assembly. The collection, numbering about 2,000 copies, has been collected for about seven years. Many of the exhibits are unique. The museum has interactive part – a working telephone station.
News of modern telephony will not be reflected in the exhibition. One of the founders and masterminds of the exhibition Vitaly Ezopov, General Director of “Mastertel”, is skeptical of modern phones. He believes that the original design decisions are preserved only in old telephones.
