On the Occasion of the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture: The "Year of Slavic Literature", Moscow - St. Petersburg - Kiev Videoconference

On May 23, 2013, the "Russkyi Mir" Foundation and the Education Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation conducted the "Year of Slavic Literature", Moscow - St. Petersburg - Kiev videoconference in a multimedia press center of RIA "News" in Moscow. The Conference is dedicated to the celebration of the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture.

This year, the world celebrates an essential cultural and historical event - the 1,150th anniversary of Slavic writing, after which the "Russkyi Mir" Foundation holds the international campaign the "Year of Slavic Literature". The following subjects will be discussed during the videoconference: the historical role of the great educators Cyril and Methodius in the development of Slavic written language, cross-cultural interaction of the Slavic peoples, the state of Russian language in the modern world and its ranking as a language of international communication.
