
Library of Russia: the “New Library FUTUR-forum” in Novosibirsk
From 21st to 23rd of May 2013, as a part of the Year of Germany and Russia Russian-German the “New Library FUTUR-forum” is being held in Novosibirsk. The forum organizer is Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library.
The main forum’s objective is the comprehensive expert and public discussion of the libraries’ trends and prospects and their impact in modern society and in the future 10-15 years. The outcome of the work will be the creation of a consolidated universal model of the new library that meets the needs of a changing society, as well as its adaptation to the conditions of the Novosibirsk region in the form of foresight model "NGONB-2025."
The forum’s work is built using current foresight designing technology, which allows to form a coherent image of the desired future and to identify the strategies of its achievement through a peer review, general public involvement, and the other techniques.
The program includes a plenary session with the staged presentations of invited experts, a work of podium discussion sites on 5 areas:
- the philosophy of a library;
- the library as a social institution;
-the information and communication technologies in the library;
- an architecture, design and an equipment of library environment;
- the professional standards for library activities.
The library professionals Russia, Germany and Kazakhstan, the architects and experts from the field of library environmental and equipment design, the representatives of educational, cultural, government and the media institutions attend the forum.
