Information Technologies and the Regions of Russia: A History of Biysk Could Be Explored using QR-codes that Have Appeared on the Facades of Biysk’s Buildings
A history of the oldest Altai region city called Byisk could now be learned self-sufficiently through scanning the QR-codes that have appeared on the facades of Byisk’s buildings.
Within project’s framework ten historic buildings of Byisk will be supplied with special plates with Quick Response codes. To read the code the camera of mobile device has to be pointed toward the plate with QR-code for scanning and decoding the information using a special program developed for variety of the modern smartphones. A link to a website will appear on gadget’s screen and will lead user to a webpage with a history of an object of the cultural heritage, inviting him to learn the facts about a building or a monument and to view the photos.

Peter the Great founded Biysk as a fortress in 1709. The city is also well known as a major center of Siberia merchant of the 19th century.
