International events: The exhibition “Russia and Holland. The space of interaction” in Moscow

June 17, 2013 in Moscow at the State Historical Museum opens the exhibition “Russia and Holland. The space of interaction”.

The bright pages in the history of relations between the two nations and states of the mid XVI - the first third of the XIX century are presented in an international exhibition project dedicated to the cross Year of Russia and the Netherlands.

The exposition includes about 500 exhibits from 15 state museums, archives and libraries in Russia and 13 – in the Netherlands, as well as three private collections.

The maps and atlases, portraits of Dutch and Russian leaders, diplomats, merchants and travelers, models of military and commercial ships, navigation and optical instruments, costumes of Peter I, the Dutch made ​​out of fabric, diplomatic documents, ambassadorial gifts of the Russian tsars Dutch government, the Dutch subjects life are presented.

The exposition reflects the trade and diplomatic ties between the two countries, the Arctic seafaring by the Dutch and the Russians in the XVI-XVII centuries, the interference in the field of cartography, tells the story of Dutch professionals and entrepreneurs in the service of Russia, the birth of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as the marriage of William of Orange and Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna, linked the two dynasties.
