Memorable dates of Russia: Cycle of retrospective exhibitions timed to the 120th birthday anniversary of Vladimir Mayakovsky in Moscow

As part of the program dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the poet’s birth, the State Museum of V. V. Mayakovsky (Moscow) has prepared a series of retrospective exhibitions.

For the first time in 75-year history, during the year the visitor will have the opportunity to observe the museum rarities that are stored in the memorial collections, the collections of photographs, works of fine art, rare books and documentary manuscripts.

This principle of display provides direct access to authentic objects that are witnesses of the poet's life, that he held in his hands, keep the memory of him. The exhibition presents the texts, documents, photographs, drawings, paintings and graphic works of applied art, fabrics and books.

The opening of every exhibition of the cycle is preceded with the issue of catalogs. Two catalogs have already been issued: "Mayakovsky Family " and "Mayakovsky – the artist", the third - "Mayakovsky from "I" to Z" is being is prepared.

All the exhibitions of the cycle will take place in the exhibition hall "Chekhov's House" in Malaya Dmitrijevka while  the museum is closed for repairs.

The series of "The rarities of the State Museum of Vladimir Mayakovsky" will include two more exhibitions. One of them - "Mayakovsky and His Contemporaries" is presented by the photo collections of the Museum and will run from October 17 to December 17. The second exhibition, entitled "Painted Book of the Russian Avant-Garde. Colour and Rhyme" will open on December 26 and will last until March next year.
